36 SQUADRON RAAF

36 Squadron, is a transport squadron with an illustrious WWII history.  Based at Richmond RAAF Base, west of Sydney , the squadron operated its fleet of C-130A Hercules aircraft on regular services to Bien Hoa, Tan Son Nhut, Phan Rang, Vung Tau and Nui Dat on logistic support for the Australian Task Force (1ATF), including medivac flights of wounded personnel.  The writer returned from Vietnam to Australia on one such C-130A flight.
