History of the 610th Transportation Company - Direct Support in Vietnam.

610th Trans. Co. (AM)(GS) RVN 1966 ~ 1972

I saw the 610th TC listed on your site, so I had to send you a note to give you a snap shot of the unit.  The 610th was an Acft Mtnc General Support unit that arrived in country in Oct 66 at Dong Ba Thin near Cam Ranh Bay and was under the Command & Control of the 14th Trans Bn. (AM&S)(GS) in Nha Trang.  In Dec 66 it was ordered to An Khe to provide support to the 1st Cav Div and back up support to the 4th Inf Div.  Then in Dec 67 it received orders to move to Red Beach, Da Nang to continue supporting the 1st Cav that had just moved to the I CTZ.  There it remained until April 1972 when it stood down.  During the Feb-Mar 68 timeframe the 58th Trans Bn (AM&S)(GS) moved to Red Beach from Ton Sa Nhut, Saigon where it took command and Control of the 610th TC from the 14th TC Bn.  When the 1st Cav moved South to the III CTZ in Sept 68 the 58th and it’s subordinate units, including the 610th, remained in place with a new mission to support the 101st Abn Div and the Americal Div Aircraft.
